a firework trick

I hope all you utahns had a good 24th of july. For those who don't live in this great state, it was utah's birthday on the 24th and so it's a holiday and we like to celebrate with fireworks. I have to be honest, we didn't do much. We have been laying tile in the bathroom so that took most of our time but we did watch a movie, and I bought some sparklers and smoke bombs and lit those off.

I found this awesome trick on pinterest for fireworks. I read that it's much easier and less scary to hold sparklers for a kid or really anyone if you put them in a play doh jars and then lite them in there. I tried the trick and it worked perfect. I don't even like holding sparklers cause I get all nervous but with the play doh jar, the sparkler stayed stuck and it wasn't as dangerous to hold them.

Fabulous Red, White, & Blue Ideas

I am so proud to be an american on days like this. I remember all that I am grateful for and the incredible sacrifice so many people have chosen to give in order to help and protect our country. I think of my loved ones that have passed, and the stars and stripes that are on our flag.

Since many holidays are coming up to celebrate our red, white, and blue (flag day, 4th of july, etc.) I thought I would share some amazing pinterest ideas for you that can help you in making your celebrations perfect. Just click on any of the images below and they will lead you to the right source. I can't tell you how many awesome patriotic desserts, crafts, decorations, etc. I found but I didn't want to share all of them or this post would just go on and on and on and on...lol (mine are already a little too long sometimes), so be sure to visit my pinterest set for Fourth of July to see more. patriotic salsa.

RED, WHITE, & BLUE SALSA.
so easy and yum. this is a fruity salsa and super easy! for many of you who
have looked at my "concoctions" will know, I don't typically use measurements. I
just guess and see what looks right. It should be an even amount of all the
ingredients, perhaps a tiny bit more tomato and onion than blueberry so that the
taste doesn't overwhelm the others.

*onions
*bluberries
*tomatoes

that's it! I smashed the blueberries in the bowl first so that they were very
juicy. I then added some tomatoes and smashed again. then I added some chopped
white onion in and stirred about. Last, I added a few more chopped tomatoes and
didn't smush them. It was really really yummy and a great fruity salsa.

a patriotic denim pennant banner!

so...I made another banner for our house to celebrate the fourth of july. This red, white, and blue banner will hopefully bring the patriotic spirit into our house. I woke up yesterday and just decided, I needed something else for my house. I began to look around at what I already had to use: a old pair of denim jeans, some leftover ribbon...and it came to me, a pennant banner!

it was so simple, as all my crafts are.
#1. cut the jeans up into triangle pieces
#2. hot glue the ribbon on top of the denim pieces in a row
#3. let dry and hang! wa-la!

tablecloth flag banner

This is my tablecloth patriotic flag banner.

1. cut rectangular pieces out of the red checkered tablecloth, the size you

you will need:

*a piece of ribbon
*a red checkered table cloth
( I found mine at the dollar store)
*a blue polka dot fabric
(I bought a placemat
at the dollar store and cut it up)
*hot glue gun

want your individual flags to be. I guessed and they are not perfect but it
still looks nice.

2. cut small square pieces out of the blue polka dot fabric or placement

3. hot glue the blue polka dot squares to the red table cloth rectangles.
make sure the squares all are glued on the same side (right or left).

4. take your ribbon and simple hot glue the individual flags to the ribbon.
