Dinosaur Egg Hunt Birthday Party Planning

My oldest boy, Logen will be turning 4 this coming March. I have gone back and forth all year on whether to throw a birthday party for him or what to do that he would actually like. I've talked about it a few times on this blog but Logen has autism and a lot of typical party activities are difficult for Logen to enjoy. Too much stimulation can be hard for him and usually causes him to go into overload (hit, push, throw, run away, scream, etc.) Every year he seems to do better and impresses us but this day is about him. Last year, we went to the zoo with just our family and didn't put any pressure on him to do things he didn't want to. It was a lot of fun. After a lot of thought, we have decided to throw a party for him but just with our extended family (whom he knows well). Since his birthday is around Easter time, I have decided to do an egg hunt. He loves outdoor activities and games with simple directions. We are planning on numbering the eggs because he loves numbers. We have decided to simply do an egg hunt and no other activities because that's a lot for Logen. We will have a donut cake because it's easy and he does love donuts but that's about it. This is a great idea for those who are wanting something inexpensive or cheap and also for those families who have children like Logen that need less rather than more. It will still be a very special day. My Logen has changed my life in so many ways. It is hard to even express the joy he brings me.
