4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

This was so easy and fun to make for the fourth of july. It really can't get much simpler. I made rice krispie treats using the original recipe (marshmallows, butter, rice crispy cereal) and then we simply added food coloring for each color when we were melting the marshmallows into the butter. That seemed to work the best. We got the Rice Krispie Recipe at the rice krispies website and then we doubled the recipe but divided into 3 batches (one for each color). The first we did was the original with no color which worked for the white stripes. The batch of red rice krispies took a lot of food coloring so be prepared to use a lot so it doesn't look pink. The batch of blue rice krispies can be a smaller batch. We just made the same amount and then had a little extra. When organizing the rice krispie squares into flags. You will simply cut each color into squares. Don't worry if their not perfect and the same size. I laid out some tin foil and put it on that but you could do it on a nice big platter or some wax paper. We then just quickly assembled it into a flag. This is a great patriotic activity for kids and they would have fun assembling the flag.
