we found this school chalkboard at the thrift store and I had to have it. It was pretty old and worn. It really needed some more paint but I loved the look of it. I really wish I would have taken a better before pic, it makes me mad I didn't. sorry! but here is the best one I had:
we painted the outside border white. We didnt' worry about taping it because we would have to tape and paint the inside with chalkboard paint later.
next, we taped the border and painted the middle with one my favorite things ever, chalkboard paint. This took two coats. We simply painted over the old coats that had already been there. This caused their to still show peeling underneath and the "old qualities" I loved.
